NEW Community Coaching Courses
The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has now completed work on the Community Stream for the new coaching program. The courses in the new program are now available in Ontario. Visit the OSA website to access a list of coaching courses in Ontario.
For the first transition period both old and new soccer coach training will be recognized. After a certain date, which will be determined by CSA, the old CCC, CCY and CCS certification levels will not be recognized.
The contents of this article are based on information posted on the Ontario Soccer Assocation (OSA) website. Visit the OSA website for more detailed information.

To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma, then you will need to complete Soccer for Life, MED and Respect.
Unlike in past years, coaches only need to take the age appropriate course. So, if you are coaching U12 boys or older, for instance, then you only need to take Soccer For Life and MED and Respect. You do not need to take the courses for the earlier stages.

Requirements and Recommendations 2012
Competitive Coaches and Assistant Coaches who have completed the old Community Certificate (Senior) need to only complete the Respect in Soccer course to coach in the 2012 season.
New Competitive Coaches and Assistant will be required to complete the appropriate coaching course within the new community coaching pathway.
U9 - U12 Male / U8 - U11 Female
Development Team Coaches and Assistants require the new ”Learning To Train” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or completion of the previous “Senior Community Certificate” (Child, youth and senior) and Respect In Soccer.
To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma (from the old system), you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED.
Male U12 and older or Female U11 and older
Competitive Coaches and Assistants require the new “Soccer for Life” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or Completion of the previous “Senior Community Certificate” (Child, youth and senior) and Respect In Soccer.
To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma (from the old system), you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED.
House League Coaches
While it is not mandatory for House League coaches to take these courses in 2012, it is always encouraged that our house league coaches attend the OSA courses and receive as much training as possible, since they are responsible for initiating the development of the young players in the club. Player Development doesn`t begin at U9, it begins when at the first kick of a soccer ball.
Respect In Soccer
In December, the Board of The Ontario Soccer Association determined that all competitive coaches in the province must meet certain minimum standards in order to be granted permission to coach at a competitive level in 2012.
All competitive-level coaches must complete the “Respect in Soccer” program by April 15th before the 2012 outdoor season.
At KDSC, this extends to all Development Team coaches.
Make Ethical Decisions
MED is offered in the following formats to increase accessibility to complete the module.
Courses Held By KDSC
KDSC will not be holding any of the OSA courses in 2012, since the majority of our competitive coaches have the Senior Community Certificate. For any coach that needs to take a course, then they should look at the OSA Course & Clinic Calendar at http://www.ontariosoccer.net/Coach/CourseClinicCalendar.aspx, and register for the course at the location and time that is most convenient.
KDSC will reimburse coaches for all OSA Courses as long at the club has been informed prior to registering for the course. The coach must pay for the course up front, then request a reimbursement from the club. Once the course is complete, then you must send a Refund Request Form to the club with the a copy of the receipt for the course and a copy of the certification. The form and copies can be mailed to the club (or dropped off at the club mailbox) or emailed to club@mail.kemptvillesoccer.com.
