Volunteer Fee Policy

The membership in the Kemptville District Soccer Club (KDSC) has continued to grow over the past years. Unfortunately, the number of volunteers in the Club has not been increasing at the same rate. 

The volunteers that we do have find themselves carrying an ever increasing workload which, in turn, is leading to “volunteer burn out”. The Club estimates that approximately four hundred (400) volunteers are required to operate our Club every year; without them KDSC would not be able to provide the teams and programming that we all enjoy.  

In an attempt to address this critical situation, KDSC has implemented a charge of $25 per family of child and youth players that will be refunded after the completion of one of the Club’s identified Volunteer Duties. (Please see the website for a detailed list and description of the duties.) A record of the Volunteer Duty performed will be maintained by the Club.  It is the responsibility of the Volunteer ensure that their participation is properly recorded by a Board Member or designated Volunteer Coordinator. 

The only goal of this fee is to increase the number of volunteers so that the KDSC can function effectively and efficiently.

Volunteer opportunities will be available on a “first come, first choice basis”.  You will be asked to provide three Volunteer Duty choices, and you will be identified as needed, depending on when the registration is received.  The Club cannot guarantee the availability of your first choice, so not providing alternative choices limits the opportunity to fulfill the volunteer requirement. The volunteer must be at least 14 years old, but does not need to be a family member. If no choices are listed the Club will assume that you wish to opt out of volunteering.

The club recognizes that not all families are able to volunteer.  Families in this situation can opt out of volunteering by indicating this during registration.  KDSC will keep the $25 Volunteer Fee in lieu of participating in some capacity as a club volunteer.

Ideally there will be no surplus from this account; all families will perform a Volunteer Duty and will receive their fee back. Should there be a surplus in this account; KDSC is committed to allocating these funds in a manner that will benefit the community or the entire membership as follows:

• Funding coaching and player clinics
• Hiring addition staff to assist in areas were there are insufficient volunteers
• Supplying financial aid for soccer registration fees to North Grenville families in need, who might otherwise be unable to play soccer.
• Any further excess net operational revenue arising from the Volunteer Fee will be allocated to a Board-approved fund for future development of KDSC
